Fall is here!!

I love fall- the colors, the crisp air and halloween.  Pumpkins rock too.  Yesterday we went and picked out our pumpkins at our favorite pumpkin farm.  This is the second year we have gone there and we just love it.  We love being able to pick out our own pumpkins.

I'm on Fi-re!!

I have completed 6 projects so far this month:

1 afghan square for knit girls swap, mimosa hat, shroom hat,  winter caplet for home, brambles beret, and a starving artist hat.

I have a couple of baby hats for charity I plan on finishing and one earwarmer for sure.

Christmas is only 100 days away.... just getting ready I guess.

This year I can say that I have had a very successful single skein september.

I have set a new goal for myself.... no yarn until Stiches 2012.  I think I have a pretty good start on my stashdown so far.  I do have two gifts that I will have to purchase specific colored yarn for, but other than that, I plan on knitting through as much stash yarn as possible.

Have an awesome day!

Look- another tooth.

Well, my family and I survived the 4th of July weekend.  We stayed home all weekend and just enjoyed swimming and the awesome weather.  I worked Satruday so we really didn't want to go out of town, beside this weekend we will be taking our rv out for a trip.

My son lost yet another tooth, so now he has two out at the same time.  He, of course, thinks it's awesome since the tooth fairy brought him money.  He already knows what he'll be spending it on too.

On the knitting front, I finished a Little Arrowhead shawl, by pam Allen.  I absolutly love it!  I knit it with Sunset Fibers 100% merino fingering that I won from the Knitcents Podcast last year.  I love this yarn and plan on purchasing more.  It is so soft and squishy, aside from being awesome color.  I love that it looks like handspun.  Can't wait to wear it!  LOVE IT!!

Off to start a new project.....

1/2 year gone bye.

Well- long time since posting.  I think about it a lot, but time just goes by.  Knitting is going.... today I went to knitmeter.com and put in all my projects and I have knitted 4547 yards this year.  Cool.  Maybe I'll hit 10,000 by year end.

I have a couple of wips-

1. Arrowhead shawl knit out of sunset fibers yarn in autmun colorway (looks like handspun though.)
2. Secret square for knit girlls afghan swap.
3. round the twist socks out of 3 ewes twisted in fiber.

I'm enjoying all these projects, but I just seem sluggish on the knitting right now.

I finished a daybreak shawl by Stephen West.  It is a beautiful shawl, but I have to say it was a boring knit. it is all stockenette with some slipped stiches, but nothing challenging.

I also finished Irving the icebox monster from Rebecca Danger's book The Big Book of Monsters. This was my second monster and I have to say I really enjoy knitting up these cute guys.  I still have to knit one for each of my children.  They are a bit upset that I haven't knit them any monsters yet.  I guess I can't blame them.

Well- gonna try to update more often. Time just seems to fly and now that the weather has finally gotten better, I hope to get some fishing in too.

catch up

Well haven't posted for a while so thought it was time.

Current wip:
Peasant shawl for shawl swap- malbrigo rios- solis colorway -
Finally done with the st. stitch and ready to start the chart. Am so excited.
tutti frutti socks- crafts meow-popcicle toes- This is my purse project and have been working on them for a really long time.
Valentine lace scarf that I started with the Mystery 220 group on Rav- Malabrigo sock yarn- cordovan colorway. Have a few more repeats till I'm done. I love the way it is turning out, but have to be able to focus while knitting it.

To cast on:
Cynthia mystery shawl by she-knits. I am using Redfish dyeworks 2 ply 50/50 silk/merino blend. It is a beautiful light dusty blue color. Can't wait to work with this yarn. I have been wanting to knit with this yarn for a long time. I just finally purchased thier yarn at Stitches West 2011. I also purchased some beads from stitches for this project. Can't wait to start, but want to complete something first.

I went to stitches West 2 weeks ago. Crazy to drive over the I-80 pass. The weather was ferocious and by the time I got to Auburn, we had to stop so that blood flow could return to my fingers. Mom and I had a fabulous time and just love feeling all the yarn and trying out all the great products and seeing all the knit up patterns.

I have been sewing a bit lately. Made a few knitting bags- one for me with fish on it and a messenger bag for my trip to stitches. I just couldn't seem to find a bag I liked, so I just made my own, besides I love the fabric and it's pretty fun.

I have decided a yarn diet is in order. I will not be buying any yarn until July-(sock summit). I not only have the stash shown, but 2 other drawers full of acrylic and cotton- so enough!

Long time- new year!

It's been a long time, but this year I plan on spending more time documenting my adventures.

I had quite a few ambitious 2011 goals at the start of this month, but after much contemplation and realization, I have totally modified them.

I had started the year believing I would knit a pair of socks a month, so at the end of the year I would have 12 pairs of socks-- then reality hit, I don't really enjoy knitting socks. I know, what an egghead..... why would you set a goal of knitting socks if you don't like to knit them? I asked myself the same question and realized I have an addiction to sock yarn, but just don't like to knit socks, so I have been looking for projects that require sock yarn and can replace my 12 sock projects. I will still occasionally knit socks, but right now I just can't commit to knitting them.

I do plan to knit 3 or 4 shawls, lots of hats, a few scarfs and whatever else tickles my fancy.

I am commiting to knitting from stash as much as possible. I have been thinking up some projects to complete from my crazy amount of stash--looking for big projects to use it up.

I have already completed a throw for my couch. I love it! It is so warm and soft. It was knit from Lion Brand Homespun and I have to say I really like this yarn. It is acrylic, but it feels so very wonderful and we all know how it'll hold up... probably forever.

I am now knitting a poncho for a girl at work-- also out of Homespun. She had asked me months ago and I told her I would, but I farted around trying to find "just the right pattern and yarn". Well, bagged that idea and decided just to knit her the two rectangles sewn together poncho. I'm sure it will look fine and the feel will be awesome.

I plan on posting more. I have a lot going on that I would like to keep track of all I working on.

Till next time-
