April 2014

It has been a long long time since I wrote. Now that weather here in Northern Nevada is a lot better, my goal is to post more often.

My children were on spring break the last 2 weeks and we went on a lot of adventures, including fishing three times. I'm excited about this summer because I think there is going to be a lot of fishing. Can't wait to show some pics.

As for knitting, there has not been too much. I've been trying to finish a blanket for my brother and working on a pair of socks for me.  I am also doing a test knit for a friend. It will be a free pattern, but I will show you when I'm done.

Talk soon and I'll be back with some pics.

2013

Well, long time, no type.  I just really was not so sure what to talk about.  My knitting world was pretty eventful in 2012.  I attended a few festivals, Stitches West for my 3rd year, and my first knitting retreat.  It was all awesome and I have realized, along with my husband, that I am an addict.

At work I'm known as the knitting lady and anytime anyone wants any kind of craft advice they ask me.  I don't know about all crafts, but I guess since I knit, it makes me "crafty".  I'll take it.  I've been called much worse in my lifetime.

This year I have a lot of plans.  I can't say that I will accomplish them all, but I'm hoping.

My first venture is going to be to open an etsy shop.  I'm hoping for sometime in February.  It will be mainly knitting bags with maybe a few odds and ends thrown in from time to time.  I don't expect to make millions for sure, but just fill in my time while the kids are at school.

As far as knitting, my goal is to knit a garment, a sweater or vest, hopefully for me.....um...maybe it'll be a baby sweater.... just not sure yet.

I also plan on knitting a hat a month for work for our patients.  We have hats that are donated, but I would like to knit a few that are not so plain.  I might as well.... the patients will certainly appreciate them.  my last goal is to knit a dishcloth a month.

Pretty small list this year.  The only other goal I have this year is to enjoy my projects.  Knit what I enjoy at the time whether that is  stockinette, lace, or cables,  just whatever makes me happy!

Last but not least is to blog more and hopefully document my projects and items I'm making for etsy.  My plan is to take pics and post them.  We'll see how it goes, only time will tell.

11 years ago today!

11 years ago today my life changed forever.  I went on my first date with my husband.  We went on one date and have been together ever since.  I guess you could say, "we just knew".

Aside from that awesome milestone, I also got lots of gifts-- Samsung Galaxy player and some Awesome yarn:

The top pic is Manic Watermelon and the bottom one is Be Mine.  They are both 3 stripe self striping.  I can't wait to cast these on. It is so soft and squooshy.

I purchased the yarn from Nalaniyarns.etsy.com.  Visit her store.. her colors are just like they show, in fact I think they are a little more vibrant in person. Absolutley Gorgeous!

Happy days for me!!!  I'm such a lucky fish!!!

Rockin socks and new toy for me.

Well-  I seem to only be posting once a month, but I am hoping this will change since the aquisition of a new toy.  My husband bought me a Samsung Galaxy player for valentines day which means I have even more access to the internet.  In case you don't know what the Galaxy player is, it is a smart phone without the phone part (comparable to an itouch, but android).  I did not need a phone (we have a great rate on our current phone) but wanted all the cool gadgets of a smart phone. I love, love, love it!! It is so awesome.

Knitting wise, I have been knitting socks galore.  I have knit 4 pairs of socks since Jan 1st.  Well, one pair was a WIP from July of last year and two pairs were for my children, but still, this is a record for me.  I feel that 2012 has been very productive so far and am hoping that more is to come.

I'm trying to get everything organized this year and am purging as much as possible. We'll see how this goes.

Well- have a great day- will try an update in the next few days.  Have so much to chat about!

2012 is here!

2011 left with a bang and to be honest, even though it wasn't a bad year, I was glad to see it leave.  I feel like a new year is the reason for a new start and new goal setting.  Well, I have set a couple of goals and to keep myself honest (and to remember what they were at the end of 2012), I'm posting them.

Goals for 2012

Fitness: to run "mom's on the run" 5k on mothers day.
food:  to lose another 60lbs.
crafting: To knit 1 pattern a month from my book and magazine stash.
recreation: to fish and camp a lot this year-- spend lots of time outside!

My plan is to revisit these goals in June and see just how far I have gotten on them.  Hope everyone had a fabulous New Year's and have set up some goals for yourself for 2012!

Fall is here!!

I love fall- the colors, the crisp air and halloween.  Pumpkins rock too.  Yesterday we went and picked out our pumpkins at our favorite pumpkin farm.  This is the second year we have gone there and we just love it.  We love being able to pick out our own pumpkins.

I'm on Fi-re!!

I have completed 6 projects so far this month:

1 afghan square for knit girls swap, mimosa hat, shroom hat,  winter caplet for home, brambles beret, and a starving artist hat.

I have a couple of baby hats for charity I plan on finishing and one earwarmer for sure.

Christmas is only 100 days away.... just getting ready I guess.

This year I can say that I have had a very successful single skein september.

I have set a new goal for myself.... no yarn until Stiches 2012.  I think I have a pretty good start on my stashdown so far.  I do have two gifts that I will have to purchase specific colored yarn for, but other than that, I plan on knitting through as much stash yarn as possible.

Have an awesome day!
